Origin
The Euphorbia erythrea, also known as the candelabra cactus, originates from East Africa, where it spans from Ethiopia to South Africa. It belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family, a large plant family with various shapes and sizes.

Characteristics
The Euphorbia erythrea is a distinctive plant due to its long, segmented stems that grow in a spiral. It grows upright and can reach heights of up to 5 metres. The colour varies from dark green to bluish green with bright, red tones. The plant has small, waxy leaves that drop quickly and produces inconspicuous, red flowers.

Care
When caring for the Euphorbia erythrea, it's important to plant it in well-drained soil and provide moderate to high levels of light. Overwatering should be avoided as this can cause root rot. Indoors, the plant thrives best at an average room temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. As a rule, the plant needs more water during the growth period and less during the resting period.
