DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
Euphorbia tirucalli, also known as the pencil plant or milkbush, originates from Africa. The plant comes originally from semi-arid tropical regions, including parts of West Africa, East Africa and South Africa. Today, Euphorbia tirucalli is found worldwide in subtropical and tropical climates, where it thrives wonderfully under dry and hot conditions.

Characteristics
Euphorbia tirucalli is a succulent and has a unique growth pattern with pencil-like, green branches that grow in an irregular shape. The plant is characterised by its light, almost pale green colour and the absence of traditional leaves. Instead, the branches perform the photosynthesis. The plant can grow to tall sizes, but remains reasonably small when grown in a pot.

Care
The care of the Euphorbia tirucalli requires some attention, but is not exceptionally demanding. The plant prefers sufficient light, preferably direct sunlight. It is important to provide well-draining soil to prevent root rot. During the growing season from spring to autumn, the plant requires regular watering, but it should be allowed to almost dry out between waterings. In the winter period, the plant needs less water. Furthermore, make sure to maintain temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius, as the plant does not tolerate cold well.
