DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Fatsia japonica, also known as the paper plant, is a graceful, evergreen shrub originally from Japan and South Korea. This plant, a member of the ivy family, is a popular choice for gardens in both Italy and the United Kingdom, due to its attractive shape and ability to thrive in most soils and climates.

Characteristics
The Fatsia japonica is easily recognizable by its large, glossy leaves that have a deep green colour. The leaves can grow up to 40 cm wide and have a palm-like shape, giving the plant a striking tropical appearance. In the autumn, the plant produces small white flowers, followed by spherical black fruits. The mature plant can grow up to a height of 2-5 metres.

Care
With the right care, the Fatsia japonica can grow very well outdoors, but also indoors as a pot plant. The plant needs a bright, indirect sunlight location with protection from harsh afternoon sun. Regular watering is necessary for optimal growth, but it's important to avoid waterlogging; the soil must dry out between waterings. The plant also benefits from annually replacing the top layer of soil in the spring.
