Origin
The Ferocactus glaucescens, also known as the glaucous barrel cactus, has its origin in Mexico. This species is primarily found in the states of Hidalgo and Querétaro, where the dry, rocky terrain forms an ideal environment for its growth. The Ferocactus glaucescens is part of the Cactaceae family, one of the largest families among the flowering plants.

Characteristics
The Ferocactus glaucescens is known for its cylindrical shape and bluish-grey colour. The plant can reach heights of between 40 and 60 centimetres, with a diameter up to 40 centimetres. It has very few, but quite noticeable ribs that are covered with long, strong spines. During the flowering period, which usually takes place in summer, this cactus produces bright yellow, bell-shaped flowers.

Care
Caring for the Ferocactus glaucescens requires certain specific conditions. This type of cactus thrives best in well-draining soil and needs plenty of sunlight but should be protected from the midday sun. It is important to moderately water the cactus during the growing season and keep it almost dry in winter.
