Origin
The Licuala grandis, also known as the fan palm, originates from the damp tropics of Australia and the Solomon Islands. This slow-growing palm species typically grows in open spaces or along river banks in the rainforest. Due to its exotic appearance, the Licuala grandis has found its way into gardens and greenhouses worldwide.

Characteristics
The Licuala grandis is a noticeable presence with its large, nearly round, ribbed leaves that resemble a fan. The palm reaches a maximum height of 3 metres, which is relatively small in comparison to other palm trees. The plant has a single, slender trunk that vaguely resembles a bamboo stick. In the wild, the Licuala grandis produces small, succulent fruits, but when cultivated, the plant usually does not bloom.

Care
Caring for a Licuala grandis requires exceptional attention to replicating its original environment. High humidity, a temperature above 16 degrees Celsius, and indirect sunlight are important conditions for healthy growth. Although this palm can survive in slightly moist soil, it prefers well-draining soil. Regular fertilisation during the growing season can promote the plant's health and growth.
