Origin
The Monstera obliqua is a climbing plant that naturally occurs in the tropical rainforests of South America. The plant is spread from Peru to Brazil and from Panama to Colombia. The species grows there in the lower layers of the rainforest, where it is humid and not too much direct sunlight falls on the leaves.

Characteristics
Monstera obliqua, also known as the Swiss Cheese Vine, is known for its characteristic, heavily incised leaves. The leaves are heart-shaped and have holes or incisions spread over the entire leaf. This makes the plant easy to recognise. The plant has aerial roots and can attach itself well to other trees with them.

Care
The Monstera obliqua prefers a light spot where direct sunlight needs to be avoided, a bit like its natural rainforest environment. The soil should stay slightly moist, without the plant standing in water. It is important to spray the plant regularly, to mimic the humid conditions of the rainforest. During the growing season, from spring to autumn, the plant needs nourishment on a regular basis.
