DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Pachycereus weberi, also known as the candelabra cactus, is native to Mexico. It mainly grows in the dry, rocky areas of the central highlands. The plant is mainly found in areas 1,200 to 2,000 metres above sea level.

Characteristics
The Pachycereus weberi is a succulent species belonging to the cactus family. It is a large, upright, colony-forming cactus that can grow up to 10 metres high. The plant has fleshy stems that are provided with deep ribs and sharp thorns. These thorns are greyish to brown in colour. The bloom of this cactus usually occurs at night, when bright white flowers emerge.

Care
The Pachycereus weberi prefers full sun to semi-shade and well-drained soil. Watering is only necessary on a limited basis, especially during the growing season, and only when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering leads to root rot, so avoid excess water. Although this cactus is generally resistant to low temperatures, protective measures against frost are desirable at temperatures below freezing point.
