Origin
The Peperomia obtusifolia 'Golden Gate' originates from Central and South America. There, the plant primarily grows in the dense underlayers of the rainforests. The plant belongs to the Piperaceae family, otherwise known as the pepper family.

Characteristics
The 'Golden Gate' variant is distinguished by its variegated leaves with a yellow-green colouring. The plant is shrub-like in shape and reaches an average height of 30 to 40 centimetres. The leaves are thick and lightly glossy, and are usually round or oval in shape. This variant of the Peperomia obtusifolia is also known as 'Baby Rubber Plant'.

Care
The Peperomia obtusifolia 'Golden Gate' thrives best with indirect, bright light and a temperature between 15 and 24°C. The plant cannot tolerate direct sunlight. It is important to water the plant well, but avoid water accumulations, as this can cause root rot. The plant also needs a high humidity, which means a slightly more humid location, such as the kitchen or bathroom, could be a good option.
