Origin
The Polaskia chende is a type of cactus originally from Mexico. It grows in dry, rocky areas in the states of Oaxaca and Puebla. The plant is named after the Polish botanist Bronislaw Pólaski, and 'chende' is the local term for the plant in parts of Mexico.

Characteristics
The Polaskia chende is a colossal, tree-like cactus that can reach a height of 4 meters. The plant has flat, elongated stem segments with serrated edges. The stem segments are covered with tough, sharp spines. The plant produces beautiful, bell-shaped, white flowers in the summer which then form red, edible fruits.

Care
The care for Polaskia chende is relatively straightforward. The plant needs a lot of sunlight, but can be placed in the shade if temperatures are extremely high. The plant requires good drainage to prevent root rot, and it's important to water the plant sparingly, particularly during the winter months.
