Origin
The Rhapis excelsa, also known as the lady palm, has its origin in Southern China and Taiwan. The plant was widely spread by the Chinese and can now be found in many parts of the world. This tropical plant is cultivated in both indoor and outdoor environments, preferably in warm climates.

Characteristics
The Rhapis excelsa is characterized by its fan-like leaves and bamboo-like trunks. This green plant can reach a height of 4 metres under optimal conditions, but often remains smaller in domestic situations. The trunks are covered with a fibrous bark that gives the plant a distinctive appearance. The leaves of the plant are deep green, glossy and spread out in different directions.

Care
For the care of the Rhapis excelsa, it is important to create the right conditions. The plant prefers semi-shade and has a fondness for a high humidity. Although the Rhapis excelsa is resistant to lower light conditions, it prefers bright but indirect lighting. The plant needs regular watering, especially during the growing period, and it is recommended to allow the soil to lightly dry out between watering periods.
