Lepismium cruciforme 'Rojo'
Hanger
4LECRHA07
Origin
The Rhipsalis heteroclada originally hails from the rainforests of the Philippines. This unique plant belongs to the cactus family, but is characterised by its hanging growth habit. In its natural environment, the Rhipsalis heteroclada is primarily found on tree trunks and slopes.
Characteristics
The Rhipsalis heteroclada has a mischievous appearance thanks to its long, slender and branched stems. The plant forms a sort of hanging clusters with a green to yellow-green colour. The stems are dense and translucent with small white hairs at the end. During the flowering period, small, cream-coloured flowers appear on the stems.
Care
Caring for a Rhipsalis heteroclada requires well-draining soil and a location with bright but indirect sunlight. Although it's a type of cactus, it doesn't share the same drought tolerance as many others. It is therefore essential to water it regularly, but to prevent the soil from becoming waterlogged. During the winter months, it is advisable to reduce watering, but not to completely stop.
