Origin
The Rhipsalis paradoxa is a unique species of cactus that originally comes from South America. The plant is especially found in Brazil, where it grows on trees in the tropical rainforest. Reportedly, the Rhipsalis paradoxa belongs to the genus Rhipsalis, which currently comprises about 60 species.
Characteristics
The Rhipsalis paradoxa is characterised by its special branch structure, often described as 'chained'. This house plant has flat, green leaves with linked segments, which gives a very distinctive appearance. The plant can bloom with small, white flowers, but this doesn't often happen within the conditions of the living room.
Care
The Rhipsalis paradoxa requires some specific care, but overall, it's an easy plant to have at home. The plant likes indirect sunlight and prefers a warm environment, but can also survive in lower temperatures. However, too much direct sunlight may cause the leaves to burn. In terms of watering, this cactus likes moist soil, but doesn't cope well with waterlogging. It is therefore advisable to water the plant little and often, rather than giving it a lot of water at once.
