Origin
The Sansevieria trifasciata 'Black Gold', also known as the snake plant, is originally from West Africa, ranging from Nigeria to Congo. It grows in these vast regions, where conditions vary from extremely dry to somewhat moist. They were introduced to the international market in the middle of the 17th century.

Characteristics
The Sansevieria trifasciata 'Black Gold' is distinguished by its high, upright leaves that grow from a solid base. These leaves are dark green in colour and have bright gold-yellow edges. The leaves can reach a length of 70 to 90 centimetres and have a width of 2.5 to 3 centimetres. The mature plant typically has six to twelve leaves and forms an elegant fan-shaped rosette.

Care
The Sansevieria trifasciata 'Black Gold' can grow in both partial shade and full sun, making it a versatile houseplant. It needs little water and can survive longer periods of drought without any damage. Being a tropical plant, it's important that it's placed where the temperature does not drop below 14 degrees Celsius. It's recommended to plant it in well-drained soil to prevent root rot.
