Sansevieria cy. sp. 'Velvet Touchz' 8/tray
8-9pp Red
4SACSTU16
Origin
The Sansevieria 'Mohawk', also known as the Snake Plant, has its origin in West Africa, specifically in Nigeria and Congo. Over the years, it has spread across tropical and subtropical areas worldwide. The 'Mohawk' is a cultivar, meaning that this specific variety has arisen through human selection and breeding.
Characteristics
The Sansevieria 'Mohawk' is distinctive for its attractive, erect leaves that grow in a pattern reminiscent of a Mohawk hairstyle. The leaves are dark green and golden yellow along the edges, giving the plant a striking signature. This species usually reaches a height of about 30 to 50 cm and forms a compact rosette, making it ideal for containers or small spaces. The plant has a slow growth rate, and flowers are rare, but can be white or light green when they appear.
Care
Like many species in the Sansevieria family, the 'Mohawk' requires a minimum of care and is extremely tolerant towards a range of environments. It thrives best in bright, indirect light, but can also tolerate light shade. It has an average water requirement and likes well-draining soil to prevent root rot. The ideal temperature for the 'Mohawk' is between 15 and 23 degrees Celsius. Although it is resistant to dry air, occasional misting with water can improve the appearance and health of the plant.
