Origin
Trichocereus bridgesii 'Monstrosus', also referred to as Echinopsis lageniformis 'Monstrose', is a unique cactus species originating from the highlands of Bolivia. It is a cultural variant of Trichocereus bridgesii, known for its inaccessible growth in its natural habitat. The 'Monstrosus' variant is relatively rare and is particularly valued by plant enthusiasts and gardeners for its unique growth pattern.

Characteristics
Unlike the ordinary Trichocereus bridgesii, the 'Monstrosus' variant is characterized by its remarkable monstrosities in growth pattern, resulting in an irregular, curled and twisted trunk. This gives the cactus an almost alien and unique appearance. The cactus has a grey-green colour and can reach a height of about 1.5 meters. Although less common, the plant can also develop off-white flowers.

Care
Like most cactus species, the Trichocereus bridgesii 'Monstrosus' requires minimal care. The plant prefers a sunny location and is very drought tolerant. It is advisable to plant the cactus in well-drained soil and to limit watering to prevent root rot. In colder months, the cactus can also be kept indoors, with a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius recommended.
