DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Veitchia merrillii, also known as Adonidia merrillii, is a tropical palm native to the Philippines. It is particularly well-known on the island of Palawan, and in urban areas such as Manila. The plant is named after Elmer Drew Merrill, a prominent American botanist who conducted extensive research on the flora of the Philippines and East Asia.

Characteristics
The Veitchia merrillii is a slender, upright palm tree that can reach a height of 6 to 8 meters. It has a grey, smooth trunk and deep green leaves that sprout in a distinctive manner from the top of the trunk. The plant produces clusters of reddish fruits that persist even when ripe, and it bears flowers that are white and emit a pleasant fragrance.

Care
The Veitchia merrillii thrives best in full sunlight to partial shade and requires well-drained soil to prevent the roots from retaining water. Watering should be moderate; overwatering can lead to root rot. Regular fertilisation is essential for this palm's growth and should be done during the growth period in the spring and summer. In the winter, lower temperatures are acceptable, but the plant should be protected from frost.
