Origin
The Acer palmatum 'Green' is a type of Japanese Maple that originates from East Asia. Japan, China, Korea and parts of Russia and Mongolia are specifically where this plant can be found. Gradually, the Acer palmatum 'Green' has found its way into gardens and landscapes all around the world, thanks to its striking beauty and resistance to many climatic conditions.

Characteristics
The Acer palmatum 'Green', also known as the green Japanese Maple, is a deciduous shrub or small tree that typically reaches a height between 6 and 10 metres. The leaves are palmate and green, but change colour with the seasons – from bright green in the spring to orange and red in the autumn. The plant is also known for its striking layered structure and elegant, arching branches which create a kind of dome shape.

Care
The Acer palmatum 'Green' thrives best in partially shady conditions with well-draining soil. Although it withstands most types of soil, it has a preference for slightly acidic, humid soils. To ensure the best growing conditions, compost or organic material should be added to the root zone annually. People should also be careful that the soil does not get too wet, especially in winter, as this can cause root rot. At the same time, the soil should never completely dry out between watering sessions.
