Origin
The Aloe Red Safari, also known as Aloe cameronii, is a plant species that originates from the dry and semi-dry regions of southern Africa. The plant primarily occurs in the wilderness of Zimbabwe and Malawi.
Characteristics
The Aloe Red Safari is a succulent with an attractive appearance, featuring pointed, red leaves and is a medium-sized variant within the Aloe family. The colour change to red occurs when exposed to a substantial amount of sunlight. The leaves can grow up to 30 cm long and in mid-winter, the plant produces long stalks with striking orange to red flowers, which are beloved by birds and insects.
Care
The Aloe Red Safari prefers a location in full sun to partial shade and is very drought tolerant, but does not like to be in constantly wet soil. It is a winter-hardy plant that can withstand light frost. It is recommended to put the plant outside during summer months and only water when the soil is completely dried out. It is advisable to reduce watering during winter months.
