Citrus australasica 'Red Finger Lime'
Stem
5CIARRS37
Origin
The Citrus aurantium 'Corrugato' is a citrus species originally from Southeast Asia. The plant is also known as 'Bitter Orange' or 'Sour Orange', and its fruits are a hybrid of the Pomelo and Mandarijn. It is believed that the plant was domesticated several thousand years ago and spread throughout the Middle East and the Mediterranean region by travellers and traders.
Characteristics
The Citrus aurantium 'Corrugato' is a small to medium-sized tree that can reach a height of about 4 to 6 meters. It is characterized by its leathery, glossy leaves and spiky branches. In the spring, the tree produces white, strongly scented flowers followed by round, bitter orange fruits in the autumn and winter, which have a wrinkled skin, hence the name 'Corrugato'.
Care
Citrus aurantium 'Corrugato' prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It can tolerate some drought, but grows best with regular watering. Protect the plant from frost and give it extra nutrition during the growing season and after flowering. Although the Citrus aurantium 'Corrugato' is not particularly susceptible to diseases, measures must be taken against citrus diseases common in our region such as citrus rust mite and leaf spot disease.
