Acer pal. diss. 'Inaba-shidare' (180-220)
Stem
5ACISSS34
Origin
The Euonymus alatus, also known as the Winged Spindle, is native to East Asia. This plant can be found naturally in countries such as China, Korea and Japan. The Euonymus alatus originally grew in forests, on mountainous terrains, and along rivers.
Characteristics
The Euonymus alatus distinguishes itself with its unique cork-like branches and striking autumn colour. It is a deciduous shrub which means it loses its leaves in the autumn. The leaves turn brilliant red from green, before they fall off. Additionally, this plant produces small, inconspicuous greenish flowers in the spring, followed by bright red berry-like fruits in the autumn.
Care
Euonymus alatus prefers a sunny to semi-shaded location. The plant thrives in any well-drained soil, but performs best in slightly acidic to neutral ground. It is tolerant of dry conditions, but it's recommended to water regularly during dry periods. In general, this plant requires little maintenance, other than removing dead, diseased, or damaged branches annually.
