Cupressus sempervirens 'Totem' (280-320)
Piramid

Origin
The Ilex crenata 'Dark Green' (150-160) originates from East Asia, particularly from Japan and China. This evergreen shrub has been cultivated in Western Europe since the 19th century. It's a variety of the Ilex crenata, also known as Japanese holly.
Characteristics
Ilex crenata 'Dark Green' is characterised by its compact growth and reaches a final height of about 150 to 160 centimetres. The plant has small, shiny, deep green leaves that have an oval to almost round shape. The Japanese holly blooms in the spring with inconspicuous white flowers, followed by black berries in autumn. The plant is particularly suitable for forming hedges, but can also be planted solo.
Care
For a healthy growth and development, Ilex crenata 'Dark Green' needs a well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Although the plant tolerates sun and partial shade, it performs best in a sheltered, partially shady location. Regular pruning, especially after flowering, promotes dense growth. Although the Ilex crenata 'Dark Green' is quite drought-tolerant, regular watering during prolonged periods of drought is recommended. The plant is hardy and does not require special winter protection.
