Origin
The Pinus sylvestris 'Glauca', also known as the Scots Pine, has its origin in Europe and Asia. This type of pine is common in the northern hemisphere, particularly in Scotland, from where the species derives its name. It's a species that adapts to various climate conditions and can grow on diverse soils.

Characteristics
The Pinus sylvestris 'Glauca' is an evergreen conifer that can grow to a height of 170 to 190 cm. It has an oval-shaped crown and the needles have a bright blue-green colour. The trunk of the tree is often twisted and fissured, contributing to a striking, picturesque appearance. The cones of this pine are oval, hanging and turn reddish-brown when they ripen.

Care
Even though the Pinus sylvestris 'Glauca' is low maintenance, it still has a number of specific care needs. For example, this tree requires exceptionally well-draining soil to prevent root rot. This pine tolerates drought and performs well in sunny to semi-shade locations. It is recommended to fertilise the tree annually in early spring to promote healthy growth.
