The 'Spirit' is a common variant of the Viburnum tinus, a species that generally thrives in milder climates.

Characteristics
The Viburnum tinus 'Spirit' is an evergreen shrub, meaning it retains its green leaves throughout the year. The leaves are thick and leathery, and the plant is characterized by its beautiful white to light pink flowers that grow in clusters on the plant. These flowers bloom between late winter and early spring, followed by blue-black berries in the summer. The 'Spirit' reaches an average height between 1.5 and 3 meters.

Care
In terms of care, the Viburnum tinus 'Spirit' prefers a sunny or semi-shaded spot. The shrub thrives in most soil types, as long as they are well-drained. It is recommended to lightly prune the plant after flowering to encourage compact growth. In the event of severe frost, it is advisable to protect the plant since it is not completely hardy. Although this Viburnum tinus does not require extensive additional nutrients, an annual addition of general garden fertiliser can promote growth and flowering.
