Origin
The Aphelandra Squarrosa, also commonly known as the Zebra plant, is an elegant plant that originates from Brazil. This native species is often found in the tropical rainforest, where it prefers a warm and humid climate.
Characteristics
The Zebra plant is distinctive for its striking white striped leaves that create a beautiful contrast with the dark green colour. The plant grows in height and can reach a maximum height of 60 centimetres. Another characteristic is the bright yellow flowers that appear at the end of the summer, which make the plant extremely popular as a houseplant.
Care
The Aphelandra Squarrosa prefers a light position, without direct sunlight. To mimic its tropical origin, it is important to keep the soil constantly moist without the plant being in water. It is also important to create a high humidity, which can be achieved by spraying or placing the plant in a bathroom or kitchen. To keep the Zebra plant beautiful and healthy, it is recommended to fertilise it from spring to autumn.
