Origin
The Kalanchoe Thyrsiflora, also known as the Flapjack or Paddle Plant, originates from Madagascar. It is a succulent that belongs to the Crassulaceae family, a group of plants that can be found mainly in dry areas.

Characteristics
The Kalanchoe Thyrsiflora has circular leaves that can become up to 15 centimetres in diameter, hence its nickname Paddle Plant. The plant has a unique, bright green colour that changes to red around the edges given ample light. This species can produce flower stems up to a meter high in mature state, covered in colourful, bell-shaped flowers.

Care
As a succulent, the Kalanchoe Thyrsiflora needs abundant sunlight and limited watering. The plant is best planted in well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Despite its origin, this species can survive low-negative temperatures, although better growing conditions are achieved at temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius.
