Origin
The Pilea Sao Paulo, also known as the Aluminium plant, originates from South America. The plant is native to the tropical regions of Brazil, where it thrives in the warm and humid climate.
Characteristics
The Pilea Sao Paulo has a unique leaf pattern with bright green, toothed and wrinkled leaves, which grow in pairs on the stems. The leaves have a shiny, almost metallic finish, which accounts for the plant's alternative name, the Aluminium Plant. The plant is generally compact in size, but can still reach a height of up to 30 centimetres.
Care
The Pilea Sao Paulo prefers light, but not direct sunlight conditions. In addition, the plant has a high need for water, but care should be taken to avoid its roots standing in water to prevent root rot. The Pilea Sao Paulo thrives best at a constant temperature, preferably between 16 and 24 degrees Celsius. The plant requires a fertile, well-drained soil type for optimum growth and development.
