Origin
The Fittonia mini Lemon belongs to the Acanthaceae family and its origin can originally be found in the tropical rainforests of South America, particularly Peru. The plant was discovered in the 19th century and brought to Europe by botanist Elisabeth Christina von Linné, who named the plant after sisters Elizabeth and Sarah Mary Fitton.
Characteristics
The Fittonia mini Lemon is a small, compact plant with striking lemon-yellow veins, which gives the plant its name. The leaves are dark green and the growth patterns compact, giving this plant a distinct contrast and visual appeal. Despite its small stature, the Fittonia mini Lemon can grow into a lush and broad plant with the right care. This plant is not frost hardy and is not adapted to temperatures below 15°C.
Care
The Fittonia mini Lemon thrives in bright, indirect light conditions and likes a humid environment, which correlates with its natural habitat in the rainforests. The plant requires regular water but doesn't appreciate standing water. It is best to keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. High humidity is also beneficial for the Fittonia mini Lemon, a misting bottle or a humid room can help create ideal conditions.
