Origin
The Coleus MS Abbey Road, also known as Coleus 'Main Street Abbey Road', is a cultivar that originates from tropical parts of Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. It is a variant of the Coleus family, which is known worldwide for its colourful and diverse leaves. The plant is named after the famous Abbey Road in London.
Characteristics
The Coleus MS Abbey Road is characterised by the lush growth of brightly coloured, red-purple leaves bordered with a green edge. The plant produces heart-shaped leaves that have a metallic shimmer and can reach a height of 12 to 14 inches, with an equivalent spread in width. During the blooming period, the plant produces small, almost unnoticeable, light blue flowers.
Care
The Coleus MS Abbey Road prefers well-drained soil and a shady to semi-shady spot in the garden. It is important to water the plant regularly, but too much moisture can cause root rot. Although the plant can tolerate some frost, it performs best at temperatures above 15°C.
The plant has a moderate need for fertiliser, which can be applied once every two weeks during the growth season. It is good to prune the flowers to promote leaf growth.
