Origin
The Scindapsus (Epipremnum) pinnatum 'Marble Planet' originates from the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, including the Solomon Islands. The plant belongs to the Araceae family, which is characterised by its diversity of exotic plants. The scientific name, Epipremnum, is derived from Greek and means 'on the trunk', a reference to the growth pattern of the plant.
Characteristics
The 'Marble Planet' is a striking appearance due to the light marble-like patterns on the leaf, setting this variant of the Scindapsus apart. The leaves are heart-shaped and can grow over 20 centimetres long when well cared for. The plant grows quite quickly and is able to attach itself to almost any surface with its aerial roots, which makes it also suitable as a climbing plant.
Care
The care of the 'Marble Planet' is relatively straightforward, which explains the popularity of the plant. The plant prefers a spot with indirect light and thrives at an average room temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. It is advisable to water the plant regularly, but caution should be taken not to keep the potting soil too wet. In addition to watering, it is also advisable to repot the plant annually and supply it with houseplant food monthly.
