Origin
The Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue', also known under the name blue fescue, is an ornamental grass that originally comes from Europe. Its distribution area touches the Caucasus, North Africa, and the western part of the Mediterranean, with a majority in southern France.
Characteristics
Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' is a lush, evergreen ornamental grass known for its stunning, ice-blue leaf colour. This ornamental grass variety reaches a height of about 20 to 30 centimetres and a width that is equal to its height. When in bloom, which can happen between June and July, the plant produces an inconspicuous flower spike that rises above the characteristic foliage, with a deeper blue colour that beautifully combines with its leaves.
Care
Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' requires minimal care and is very hardy. It prefers a full sun to partially shady location and well-drained soil to grow. Despite being a drought-tolerant plant, regular watering and feeding are still important to maintain the plant's health and vitality. To maintain its lush shape and colour, it is advisable to prune the plant back in early spring.
