Origin
The Miscanthus sinensis 'Flamingo', finds its origin in East Asia. It naturally occurs in large parts of China, Japan, and Korea. It is a grass species that can adapt well to various climatic conditions.
Characteristics
The Mischanthus sinensis 'Flamingo' owes its name to the pink flower plumes that resemble flamingo feathers. These elegant plumes appear from August until deep into the winter. The plant can reach considerable heights, from 200 to as much as 250 cm. The leaf of this grass species is green and has a clear yellow-brown colour in the autumn.
Care
When planting the Miscanthus sinensis 'Flamingo', the most important thing to consider is sufficient sunlight, as the plant loves a sunny location. The plant also appreciates well-drained, humus-rich soil. It has few requirements for the soil type, but it cannot tolerate a too wet location. Prune the plant back to about 10 cm above the ground in the spring to promote new, fresh green growth and full growth.
