DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Acorus gramineus Argenteostriatus, also known as Japanese sweet flag, has its origin in East Asia. It is predominantly found in countries such as China, Japan and Korea. The plant is common in marshy areas and along the waterside, making it an ideal aquatic plant.

Characteristics
The Acorus gramineus Argenteostriatus is a perennial plant, with a grass-like appearance. The plant produces long, narrow, striped leaves that are green with white edges, hence the name Argenteostriatus, meaning 'silver striped'. The plant grows to about 30 to 40 centimetres tall. The plant occasionally blooms with inconspicuous flowers located along the stems of the leaves, however, it is the characteristic leaves that give this plant its ornamental value.

Care
The Acorus gramineus Argenteostriatus prefers a spot in partial shade or full sun. It prefers a moist to wet, nutrient-rich soil and is suitable for planting at the edge of a pond among others. Despite the plant's good resistance to cold, some protection during very severe winters is advisable. When pruning, old and unsightly leaves can best be removed in the spring. This encourages the plant to produce new leaves.
