Origin
The Monstera Obliqua Peru, also known as the Swiss Cheese Plant, has its roots in the tropical regions of South and Central America. In particular, this variant of the epiphytic Monstera species originates from the rainforest of Peru.
Characteristics
Famous for its unique, heart-shaped leaves, the large leaves of the Monstera Obliqua Peru carry fenestrations or natural openings within them. This plant can grow both in height and in width, with mature specimens reaching 6-9 metres. The stems are long and can both climb and hang, making the plant flexible in its growth style.
Care
The Monstera Obliqua Peru prefers a warm, humid environment akin to its tropical origin. It can thrive well in indirect sunlight and needs regular watering. The soil should be damp, but not soaked. Planting it in a well-draining planter is essential to prevent root rot.
