Origin
The Guzmania 'Fiero Orange' is a tropical plant originally from Central and South America. The plant belongs to the Bromeliaceae family and is usually found in mountainous areas in these regions. The name Guzmania is in honour of Anastasio Guzmán, a Spanish botanist and explorer of Latin America in the 18th century.
Characteristics
The Guzmania 'Fiero Orange' stands out with its bright orange inflorescence emerging from the green foliage. The spear-shaped leaves are shiny green and grow in a rosette. The most notable aspect of the plant is the orange flower which usually blooms in the summer and autumn. The Guzmania 'Fiero Orange' can reach a height of about 40 centimetres.
Care
The Guzmania 'Fiero Orange' thrives best in indirect, bright light and at temperatures between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius. Too much direct sunlight can burn the leaves, while too little light can delay blooming. The plant needs high humidity, so spraying with water is recommended. The soil must be constantly slightly moist, but waterlogging must be avoided. The watering should preferably occur in the cup of the plant. Changing the water in the cup is necessary to prevent rot.
