Origin
The Strelitzia nicolai, also known as the white bird of paradise, originates from South Africa. It is a fast-growing, evergreen plant that belongs to the Strelitziaceae family. The plant is named after the Russian Tsar Nicholas I.

Characteristics
The Strelitzia Nicolai is characterized by its long, straight stems and large, shiny leaves that form a fan-like pattern. The leaves can reach a length of 1.5 to 2 meters when mature. Remarkable are the white flowers with a blue accent that appear through the green, bearing similarities to tropical birds, hence the popular name 'bird of paradise plant'.

Care
Regularly watering the Strelitzia Nicolai is crucial when the surface soil has become dry. It is advisable to frequently mist the plant, as they favour high humidity. A bright location is beneficial for growth, however, direct sunlight can be harmful. The plant grows best at a temperature between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. During the growing season (spring and summer), it's useful to provide plant food every two weeks. Especially during this period, the Strelitzia Nicolai will develop and may come into bloom.
