Origin
The Spathiphyllum Sensation Varigated is a tropical plant species that naturally occurs in the forests of South America, particularly in Brazil, Venezuela, and Colombia. This member of the Araceae family usually grows in damp, shady areas on the forest floor, where it adapts to the conditions of relatively low light.
Characteristics
The Spathiphyllum Sensation Varigated stands out for its gracefully undulating, green-white leaves. These leaves, decorated with a varied pattern of green and white stripes, can grow up to 60 cm in length. Also characteristic of this plant are the typical flowers, which consist of a shiny white bract (or spur) with a so-called cob in the middle. Although the Spathiphyllum Sensation Varigated is known for its air-purifying properties, it is particularly the rare and striking variety of the foliage that makes this plant a sought-after houseplant.
Care
Caring for the Spathiphyllum Sensation Varigated requires some attention. The plant requires a moderate to warm climate, with high humidity and ideal temperatures between 18°C and 27°C. It is important that the plant is placed in indirect sunlight, as too much direct sunlight can burn the leaf. Regular watering is necessary to keep the soil moist, but excess water must be avoided to prevent root rot. When feeding the plant, it is recommended to use a fertiliser for flowering houseplants during the growth period, from spring to autumn. It is also advisable to regularly wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and increase humidity.
