DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
Acacia nilotica is a tree species native to Africa, the Middle East, and parts of the Indian subcontinent. It naturally grows on savannas, grasslands, and along riverbanks. The species has spread to other parts of the world, including Australia and Southeast Asia. In some regions, the tree is considered invasive.

Characteristics
Acacia nilotica is a medium-sized to large deciduous tree, usually reaching 5 to 20 metres in height. It features a broad, umbrella-shaped crown and bark that is dark brown to black. Striking, sharp thorns grow on the branches, often in pairs or groups of three. The leaves are small and bipinnate. Yellow, spherical flower heads appear in clusters and are followed by elongated, leathery seed pods.

Care
Acacia nilotica prefers a sunny position and thrives in well-draining soils. The tree tolerates both dry and temporarily wet conditions. Regular watering is required during the early stages of growth. Mature specimens are drought tolerant. Protection from extreme cold is advised, as this species is sensitive to low temperatures.
