Origin
Abelia grandiflora 'Radiance' is a cultivar belonging to the genus Abelia. This plant has been developed as an ornamental shrub through selective breeding. The species Abelia grandiflora originally comes from a cross between Abelia chinensis and Abelia uniflora. 'Radiance' was introduced for its striking foliage colour and compact growth habit. The plant is part of the Caprifoliaceae family.

Characteristics
Abelia grandiflora 'Radiance' is a compact, semi-evergreen shrub. Its leaves are variegated, with a white to cream margin and a green, sometimes grey-green centre. The plant reaches a height of approximately 60 to 90 centimetres and a width of 90 to 120 centimetres. From summer to early autumn, pale pink to white, bell-shaped flowers appear, which are attractive to insects. The branches have an elegant, slightly arching form.

Care
Abelia grandiflora 'Radiance' thrives best in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade. The plant prefers well-drained, moist soil. Regular pruning encourages compact growth and helps maintain its shape. The shrub is moderately hardy in temperate climates. Excessive wetness during the winter period can cause root damage.
