Origin
The Sansevieria 'Sauvage' originally comes from West Africa. The genus this plant belongs to, Sansevieria, is named after Raimondo di Sangro, a prince from 18th century Naples. Although the 'Sauvage' is a relatively recent cultivar, the original species come from dry, rocky environments.

Characteristics
Sansevieria 'Sauvage' is a striking houseplant due to its long, vertical leaves that have a unique yellow-green colour. The leaves have a broad shape and do not curl, which is typical for many other Sansevieria species. Due to the length and sturdiness of the leaves, the 'Sauvage' can reach a height of 60-70 cm. This plant is also known as the Mother-in-law's Tongue.

Care
Sansevieria 'Sauvage' is considered an easy to care for plant. It requires little water and thrives well in both low and high light conditions, although the colour of the leaves can vary depending on the light intensity. The plant prefers well-draining soil and should definitely not be kept in moist soil, to prevent rot. During the winter months, the 'Sauvage' goes into a dormancy period and requires less water.
