Origin
The Schefflera actinophylla 'Amate', also known as the Queensland umbrella plant, is originally from the tropical rainforest of Australia and New Guinea. The plant was brought to the west by traders and plant collectors in the 19th century. Today, the plant is also cherished in other parts of the world for its unique and tropical look.

Characteristics
The Schefflera actinophylla 'Amate' is characterised by its large, shiny leaves that resemble an umbrella, hence its nickname. The leaves are dark green in colour and have a leathery texture. In its natural environment, the plant produces red or orange inflorescences consisting of many small flowers and is characterised by its ability to grow into a large bush or small tree.

Care
The Schefflera actinophylla 'Amate' prefers indirect sunlight and thrives in an environment with high humidity. The soil the plant is in should be well-draining and the plant needs regular water, but does not tolerate waterlogging. In the winter months, the amount of water can be reduced. It is also recommended to repot the plant annually to promote health and growth.
