Origin
The Scindapsus pictus, also known as the Satin Pothos, is a tropical plant originally from Southeast Asia. It is primarily found in countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. In these countries, the plant grows in the shady understorey of the forest.

Characteristics
The Scindapsus pictus is characterised by its large green leaves with silver spots that give the plant a satin-like glow. The leaves have a heart-shaped or oval shape and can vary from 10 cm to 30 cm in length. The plant has aerial roots which it uses to cling to larger trees in nature. In spring and summer, the plant can produce small, inconspicuous flowers.

Care
The Scindapsus pictus prefers a light position without direct sunlight, as the leaves can burn. The plant likes high humidity, similar to its original tropical environment. It is important to water the plant regularly, but too much water can cause root rot. During the winter months, the plant needs less water. The plant can be encouraged to grow by being fed regularly with a general houseplant fertiliser.
