Origin
The Echeveria setosa, known commonly in the UK as Firecracker Echeveria, finds its origin in Mexico and is a member of the Crassulaceae family. This family contains more than 1500 different species, including many succulent species. The plant is named after the 18th-century Mexican botanical artist Atanasio Echeverría.

Characteristics
The Echeveria setosa is an evergreen succulent with a rosette-shaped growth pattern. It has compact, fleshy leaves covered with white furry trichomes, giving it a unique appearance. From late spring to summer, the plant produces long flower stems which bear bright orange to red, bell-shaped flowers. The maximum height of the plant is approximately 25 cm, while its width can reach up to 30 cm.

Care
The Echeveria setosa prefers well-draining soil and should be watered when the soil is completely dry. While the plant can tolerate some drought, it should be protected from excessive water. The plant can grow well in light shade, but for optimal growth, bright, indirect light is recommended. Temperatures below freezing can be harmful; therefore, it is important that the plant is kept indoors during the winter months.
