Origin
The Murraya paniculata, also known as the Orange Jasmine or Kamini, originates from Southeast Asia. It is a plant species that belongs to the Rutaceae family, and is often found in sub-tropical regions such as India, China, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

Characteristics
Murraya paniculata is a perpetual, dense and bush-like plant that can reach up to seven metres in height. Its glossy leaves are dark green in colour, with a strong scent when crushed. The flowers, which often bloom after rainfall, are small, white, strongly fragrant, and resemble jasmine flowers. The plant also produces small, red-orange coloured fruits which are attractive to birds.

Care
The Murraya paniculata requires minimal care and is resistant to most soil conditions, though it grows best in well-draining soil with moderate watering. Although the plant can grow in both full sun and partial shade, it produces the most flowers in a sunny position. Pruning is recommended to promote growth and keep the shrub compact, but is not strictly necessary for the plant to bloom. The plant is somewhat frost resistant, but protection from severe frost is recommended.
