Origin
The Guzmania Rockyflower Akabar belongs to the Bromeliaceae family and originates from the tropical regions of South America. The genus, Guzmania, is named after the Spanish pharmacist and naturalist, Anastasio Guzman, who made significant contributions to the botanical knowledge of the New World.
Characteristics
The Guzmania Rockyflower Akabar is a striking plant with distinctive red flowers and shiny green leaves. The rosette-shaped plant attains an average height of 40 to 60 centimetres. The flower stems generally protrude above the leaves and can vary in colour from pink to red, whilst the flowers themselves are small and white.
Care
The Guzmania Rockyflower Akabar has an optimal growth temperature between 18 and 32 degrees Celsius and requires high humidity. It is advisable to provide the plant with indirect light as direct sunlight can scorch the leaf tips. It is important to keep the soil of the Guzmania lightly moist, without the plant sitting in water. Finally, the plant is best fed with a fertiliser that is specially formulated for bromeliaceae, since this plant has a fairly specific nutritional profile.
