Origin
The Bromelia Modern mix belongs to the Bromeliaceae family, which is native to the tropical regions of America. This exotic plant has over 50 species which stretch from the southern United States to Argentina. They are primarily located in tropical rainforests yet can also be found in dry desert areas.
Characteristics
The Bromelia Modern mix is known for its colourful, long-lasting flowers and its attractive leaves. Most species have stiff, spiral-forming leaves which often have thick scales that aid in water collection. The flowers can range from small, inconspicuous blossoms to large, brightly-coloured bracts which retain their colour for a long time. This plant species also has the ability to absorb air and water pollutants, contributing to a healthier indoor climate.
Care
The Bromelia Modern mix requires a lot of indirect sunlight and high humidity, akin to their original rainforest habitat. They thrive well at room temperature and will not fare well in temperatures below 13 degrees Celsius. Generally, they do not require a lot of water; it is enough to keep the soil lightly moist. For optimal health and growth, it is recommended to fertilise the Bromelia every two to four weeks with a special Bromelia food.
