Origin
The Guzmania Libby is a tropical house plant originating from Central and South America. The plant belongs to the Bromeliad family and comprises approximately 120 species. This plant can primarily be found in mountainous rainforest trees, ranging from sea level to altitudes of 3500 metres.
Characteristics
The Guzmania Libby distinguishes itself with its vibrant colours and pointed leaf shape. The long leaves, often green with red or orange tones, grow in a rosette shape from the centre of the plant. The plant produces a distinctive flower that springs upright from the middle of the rosette. This flower can stay in bloom for up to four months.
Care
The Guzmania Libby requires relatively little maintenance, but proper care can extend the plant's lifespan. The plant thrives best in a warm environment with plenty of light, but out of direct sunlight. It is important to water the plant regularly, but to prevent the roots from drowning, especially give water in the centre of the rosette. The plant can also thrive with a relative humidity of at least 60%, as in its natural rainforest environment.
