DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Red Azalea, also known as Rhododendron Simsii, has its origins in East and Southeast Asia. In these regions, the plant is mainly found in mountainous areas at heights between 500 and 2700 metres. Domesticated varieties of the Red Azalea have been cultivated in Europe and North America since the 18th century.

Characteristics
Known for its vibrant flowering, the Red Azalea produces striking scarlet to dark red flowers that vary in size between 3 and 5 centimetres. The dense bushy shrub, which can reach heights of 2 to 4 metres, has dark green, glossy leaves. Blooming from late winter to early spring, the Red Azalea forms an attractive flower display for gardens.

Care
The Red Azalea requires attention for good growth and flowering. For optimal bloom, the plant should be placed in a location with semi-shade to full sun. The soil in which the plant is kept should be well-draining, rich in organic material, and should never dry out. The Red Azalea is a frost-sensitive plant and needs to be protected during harsh winters. Finally, the plant is also sensitive to lime, therefore it is better to use rainwater for watering rather than tap water.
