Origin
The Anthurium Andreanum Grp mix, also known as the Flamingo Flower, originates from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. In these warm and humid environments, the plant is characteristic of the rich biodiversity of these areas. The plant was discovered in the wild at the end of the nineteenth century and its Latin name is thanks to Belgian botanist Eduard André.
Characteristics
The Anthurium Andreanum Grp mix is known for its shiny, dark green leaves, which are heart-shaped and grow on long stems. The bright, colourful bracts, coming in various shades of red as well as white, pink and purple, make this plant unique. These floral bracts surround the actual flower, which looks like a spadix and is often yellow or white in colour. The plant can bloom all year round.
Care
The Anthurium Andreanum Grp mix requires specific care to optimise growth and flowering. The plant needs a warm, bright location but should not be placed in direct sunlight. Watering once a week is sufficient during summer and once every two weeks in winter. High humidity is key, which can be achieved by regular spraying. Additionally, it is advisable to repot the plant every few years in order to absorb sufficient nutrients.
