Origin
The Saxifraga (Arendsii Grp) Marto Rose, better known as the Saxifrage, originates from the Northern Hemisphere including Western and Central Europe. This herbaceous perennial was named after the German cultivator Arends, who popularised the plant in the 20th century.
Characteristics
The Saxifraga (Arendsii Grp) Marto Rose is characterised by its abundance of growth and its dazzling pink flowers which bloom anew each spring. This variety has green, glossy foliage and is semi-hardy, meaning that the plant is frost tolerant but should be covered during severe frost in winter. The plant has a compact growth habit, reaching a maximum height of about 20 to 30 cm.
Care
Caring for the Saxifraga (Arendsii Grp) Marto Rose is relatively simple. The plant prefers a sunny to semi-shaded location, with well-drained, moist soil. It is recommended to water the plant regularly, but to avoid the ground becoming waterlogged. Pruning of the plant is not necessary, but dead flowers can be removed to stimulate the growth of new flowers.
