Rhododendron (Simsii Grp) Hellmut Vogel mix
F00000298
Origin
The Lavatera mix, also known as the tree mallow, originates from the Mediterranean area. The plant is also common in Western Asia and North Africa. Recently, the Lavatera mix has been introduced to other regions, including North America and Australia.
Characteristics
The Lavatera mix is a semi-hardy, perennial plant best known for its long flowering time. From early summer to autumn, the plant produces large, brightly coloured flowers. The flowers can be pink, white or purple. The plant can reach a height of 1 to 2 meters and has a growth habit that tends towards the shrub-like.
Care
The Lavatera mix grows best in full sun or half shade and requires well-drained soil. It is a drought-tolerant plant, meaning it is able to survive periods of drought. However, during the first few years of the plant's life, regular watering is required. Fertilisation is generally unnecessary, unless the soil is particularly poor in nutrients. The Lavatera mix is best pruned at the beginning of spring.
